Too big of a screen for gaming (sounds silly) lulz?

Okay...what i want is a big freaking screen for gaming....

i'm thinking about hooking up a 42" flat screen to a computer and mounting the tv on a wall or something or just on a desk

what i want to know is have anyone else ever done this and how did it turn out?

also
i'm wondering if some things would be small on the screen or if they'd stretch to the screen

because i don't want to have to move closer...and then move back for bigger things

and if you don't have any advice at all about this
tell me if i'm missing something or something i need to look into

thanks

It's not the physical size of the screen that matters... It's the resolution.

For instance, a 36" widescreen LCD HDTV with 1366x786 resolution will run games EXACTLY as it would on a small 19-inch 1366x768 LCD monitor. The graphics card on your computer has to use the same amount of computing power to drive both, because they have the same resolution.

So find out what is the resolution of our 42" flatscreen TV. If it is comparable to the resolution of the monitor you are using, it should work just fine. If it is a full 1080p HDTV (which does 1920x1080 resolution), you want a graphics card powerful enough to drive games at that resolution (if the game supports it.).
