Lap Desk For Laptop Computer

What type of computer should I buy?

I need something I can have in bed with me that is small with a decent screen size (so it doesn't hurt eyes too much).

I'd like to have it in my lap when I'm gaming if I want to go on net.

I guess I'm looking for a netbook or tablet pc or something similar??? I really only need the computer to be able to go on the net. I wouldn't mind if the computer had something other than Windows on it.

What should I get & should I get it now? (I already have a laptop & a desktop.... My laptop is too heavy & I usually have it on a table, desk or platform, so I WANT TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT.) Thanks!

I purchased 2 of the Acer Netbooks (with about an 8" screen) about a year ago. Here are the problems I have with the smaller, lighter netbooks: (1) I gently placed one netbook on my nightstand; I then gently placed a hardback book (it was one of the Twilight series, if that tells you the size and weight of the book) on top of the netbook. Somehow, don't ask me, the monitor on the netbook is now shot. I didn't drop the book, I didn't toss the book, I just gently placed it. Go figure. I cannot imagaine how that 'much' weight could've done that, but there's no other explanation. (2) If I'm on the internet for a while, and I'm using the keyboard much at all, I get cramps in my hands because of the compact placement of the keys on the keyboard. Also, the placement of the mousepad, I get cramps in my thumbs. And I swear I don't have giant man-hands, either. (3) The batteries on these netbooks, don't last worth a crap. I mean, one of them (the one that isn't trashed), I get about 30 seconds out of the battery one year later. The other, the one with the broken monitor, I got about an hour to an hour and 10 minutes.

I've read reviews and I think this is a consistent issue with the Acers. Full sized Acers are great computers, from my experience. I don't know if these issues plague other brands or not.

I got one of the Acers for $235; I had a $150 Staples Reward check and got the second Acer for about $170. I have told myself that the trashed one is the one I got so cheap. LOL.

I'd say just keep the laptop you've got for now and maybe wait for the netbooks to improve.
